Go ahead and put “cleaning service” on your wish list this Christmas. Until then, let’s see what we can do to get ready for the best time of the year!
1. Deep clean one to two weeks before: Dust ceiling fans, blinds, baseboards, clean windows or glass doors. Don’t leave everything for the last minute.
2. A few days before Christmas: Focus on the busiest areas of your house (remove clutter, freshen up bathrooms, quick dusting of the guest bedroom if you are expecting guests). Straighten the coat closet, making room for guests’ coats. Add extra hangers if needed.
3. Clean the stovetop, oven before you start your Christmas cooking. Wipe out your fridge to make room for party foods. Wipe down all small and large appliances as well as kitchen cabinets. Refresh chopping boards with lemon juice
4. If you have a fresh Christmas tree keep it hydrated to reduce shedding needles.
5. Gift your vacuum cleaner a Christmas spa day: Your vacuum cleaner is likely to be your best friend this month – give it a spa day to keep it in tip-top condition. Empty and clean it, replace filters and remove hair and blockages from hose or floor piece.
6. Book professional cleaners early – This is very important as companies are booked up for the holiday’s weeks, sometimes months before. If you want to get on someone’s schedule you want to do that rather sooner than later.
