The New Year has just started and you may decide to hire services and companies to help around your home. Whether it’s a roofer, lawn company, doggy walker, pool, carpet, window or house cleaner… Always do your homework in researching who you do business with. New “businesses” form every day but it’s up to you to find out who just came up with a name and started working without taking care of all the legal procedures in the background or those businesses who are registered/licensed, carry insurance policies and bonds etc. and do the right thing. Here are some questions you should always ask to prevent fraud and ensure satisfaction!
– How long have you been in this business?
– Do you have a contracting license/Is your business registered?
– Do you have insurance in case something in my home gets broken in the renovation and/or construction process?
– Can I see your certificate of insurance/bond?
– What are your rates and what kind of payment methods do you accept?
– Are you employees backgroundchecked?
– Do all your employees go through a training program?
– What steps will you take to protect my property?
– Can you provide a list of references I can contact?
– Am I bound to a contract or can I cancel service anytime?
– Is there a warranty for your service or for the materials you’ll be using?
