Since COVID struck the world people spend a lot more time in their own home living, working, playing, cooking and yes – cleaning.
If you are anything like me, you use cleaning as a coping mechanism. Coping with stress, worries and anxiety. My family usually knows fairly quickly when I’m under the weather because I vacuumed and mopped our floors for the third time this week, keep trying to get these water rings out of our toilets with pumice stones or wipe the kitchen counters and other surfaces over and over again.
Finding the right cleaning product for the job—whether that’s removing mildew stains and water spots on your shower glass in the bathrooms, making your faucet and stainless-steel kitchen sink shiny again or finding the best way to remove pet hair from your furniture.
It can be tough to find the right tools and products, which is why I decided to share some of our most used products. I’ve compiled our favorite cleaning products for floors, kitchens, bathrooms, and more so it will be a breeze from now on to keep your house spick and span.
1. All-purpose and glass cleaner as well as microfiber rags: Always have your favorite glass and All-purpose cleaner and a few washable microfiber rags ready to go. We love Sprayway Glass cleaner for all glass, mirrors and windows and Mrs. Meyer’s and Method products, both biodegradable for all other surfaces.
2. Swiffer Dusters are great for all dusting around the house: From ceiling fans to blinds, to furniture and baseboards, they will help you to get rid of dust quickly however a microfiber rag will do exactly the same for less money as you can wash and reuse those.
3. Fabuloso: For a long time this cleaner only came in a lavender scent but times have changed and there are so many more different scents available. Fabuloso is a great very inexpensive degreaser that can be diluted with water and mixed in spray bottle for dirty microwaves, stovetops, to get stains out or to mop your floors with it.
4. Magic Erasers: A must have in your supply basket: Just like the name implies, Magic Erasers are truly incredible for cleaning. They can scrub off that stubborn ring that’s been on your bathtub for ages, get rid of fingerprints on doors, or remove scuff marks from your favorite pair of sneakers or your baseboards.
5. Pumice stone and 0000 steel wool: If you want to clean like the Pro’s you need those two secret weapons in your cleaning stash. Pumice is a volcanic rock that is a very soft, light and porous. It is inexpensive and effective for cleaning toilets without scratching them because the stone is harder than most mineral deposits and stains that typically develop on toilets. 0000 steel wool can be used for cleaning, polishing, buffing and refinishing. It’s a great tool to remove hard water stains in your bathrooms. Check out this video before getting started:
6. Floor cleaning: While we have tried many different floor cleaners, we have found that Fabuloso and well as Mr. clean multi surface cleaner are the best and most inexpensive cleaners that can be used on ceramic and vinyl tile, terrazzo flooring, and varnished hardwoods. The best part is: Both cleaners are not just for floors – thy can be used around the whole house.
