Since 2016, my business Custom Cleanups, LLC has donated cleaning services to 70 cancer patients in treatment with total services valued at $19,500.
While I understand that anyone can participate in community service and that every contribution is important, I believe businesses can – and should – make a larger impact in their communities than single individuals.
After beating cervical cancer and starting my cleaning business, I chose to focus on supporting cancer patients doing something that I needed help with when I was sick. I partnered with a non-profit organization called “Cleaning for a Reason,” and together we arrange to provide free cleaning services to local cancer patients while they are going through treatment.
I decided to take what essentially was a life changing event for me and turned it into my superpower. With a successful business and so much to be thankful for, I utilize every opportunity to share the importance of giving back to your community with other local business owners I come into contact with.
We need to support the community that supports our businesses. The sky’s the limit in how you can help: Donation drives, sponsorships, charity events, volunteer days, partnerships with other local entrepreneurs, pro bono work, etc.
Customers want to support local businesses that stand for causes they feel strongly about. A 2021 survey found that 63 percent of individuals preferred purchasing from purpose driven businesses.
