Let’s talk vacuum cleaner maintenance! Many of us are proud for vacuuming the house several times each week. But be honest – how often do you actually clean out your vacuum cleaner or replace the bag? This is an example of a full bag. Bacteria, fleas, mold and other microscopic organisms can all thrive in your carpet/floors. But the number one thing that every home has is dust… and with dust comes the notorious dust mites. We at #customcleanups know many people love their bagless vacuum cleaners. Vacuums with removable and disposable bags (as opposed to “bagless” vacuum cleaners) however are often preferred especially by pet owners, because static electricity can sometimes make it difficult to clean pet hair from the plastic sweeper canisters. A vacuum with a rubber-tipped sweeper attachment designed to remove pet hair from furniture is also a good choice. Either way: It’s recommended to clean a vacuum cleaner about once every 12 months however depending on how often you use it you may want to do it more frequently. The canister or bag should be replaced once a month if you vacuum once or twice per week. If you vacuum daily it should be replaced once a week.
